UDEP Grand Chambéry: A Collective Success
On July 11th, an important milestone was reached with the completion of the renovation work on the Grand Chambéry wastewater treatment plant (UDEP), marking the conclusion of six months of intense and collaborative efforts. This project, unusual in its nature and scale, made it possible to restore the distribution structure at the primary settling outlet, which had been severely damaged by biogenic corrosion.
An unavoidable emergency
The damage caused by biogenic corrosion had reached a critical level, jeopardizing the concrete structure. The extent of the damage required swift and effective intervention. The urgency of the situation mobilized the teams without delay to prevent further deterioration and ensure the continuity of the UDEP Grand Chambéry depollution service.
An extraordinary project
This project stood out for the diversity and complexity of the interventions required. Advanced technologies and innovative methods were implemented:
- – Drone investigations: To assess the damage without risking worker safety.
- – Impressive safety phases: Ensuring the safety of workers throughout the operation.
- – CATEC interventions: Working in confined spaces with specialized equipment.
- – Hydrodemolition: A precise demolition technique using high-pressure water.
- – Spraying of aluminate-based mortar: Repairing concrete structures with specific materials to ensure durability.
Operational constraints
The complexity of the project extended beyond the techniques used. The work had to be carefully planned to minimize the impact on the plant’s operations:
- – Nighttime plant shutdowns: To enable the implementation of service continuity measures and safety protocols.
- – Sequenced work by treatment lane: Ensuring each stage was executed precisely without disrupting the entire treatment process.
- – Temporary pumping: Maintaining service continuity despite the necessary work-related interruptions.
A collective success
The success of this project was built on effective collaboration between various stakeholders:
- Execution: Terideal / Sodi
- Supervising : INFRANEO Sud-Est
- Client : Grand Chambéry
Today, the structure is not only repaired but also hydraulically operational, ready to resume its vital role in the wastewater depollution process of Grand Chambéry. This collective success is the result of hard work, cutting-edge technologies, and exemplary coordination among all participants.
The UDEP project is a shining example of what a dedicated and well-coordinated team can accomplish when facing major technical challenges. Congratulations to all the contributors to this remarkable achievement!
