G2 AVP Geotechnical Studies: Installation of Photovoltaic Shelters
As part of its commitment to the ecological transition, Auchan has launched an ambitious project to install photovoltaic carports on fourteen of its parking lots across France. To successfully carry out this project, INFRANEO mobilized its agencies in Lille, Poitiers, Nancy, Lyon, Nantes, and Marseille.
G2 AVP Geotechnical Studies to Assess Installation Feasibility
Preliminary geotechnical studies of the “Avant-Projet” type (G2 AVP), in accordance with standard NF P 94-500, were conducted to assess the feasibility of installations at each site. These studies included:
- Destructive boreholes with pressuremeter tests: These tests measure soil deformability and bearing capacity, providing essential data on mechanical resistance throughout the depth of the borehole.
- Penetrometers: Used to test soil compaction and cohesion, these instruments help identify different soil layers while evaluating their density.
- Auger borings with soil sampling: These borings allow for the collection of soil samples for later laboratory analysis.
- Adapted laboratory testing: Collected samples are analyzed to determine soil properties such as permeability and grain size distribution.
- G2 AVP geotechnical studies: These studies define the appropriate foundation methods for the project.
Preparation of the G2 AVP Report and Detailed Recommendations
Following fieldwork and laboratory analyses, a G2 AVP report is produced for each site, compiling all collected data. This document also provides detailed recommendations on suitable foundation types for the photovoltaic canopies at each location.
Environmental and Economic Impact
Installing photovoltaic canopies significantly reduces greenhouse gas emissions by converting sunlight into electrical energy. These structures also provide shaded areas for vehicles, protecting them from heat and bad weather.
Moreover, the project presents economic benefits for Auchan. By reducing the consumption of non-renewable energy, the company saves costs and covers part of its energy needs through solar power. This initiative also strengthens Auchan’s brand image as a sustainable company.
INFRANEO’s Expertise
Conclusion
By installing photovoltaic carports on fourteen of its parking lots, Auchan positions itself as a major player in the environmental transition, demonstrating the crucial role large companies can play in fighting climate change. This initiative, backed by INFRANEO’s expertise, highlights the promotion of renewable energy—an essential challenge for a sustainable future.
